The CFR Southeast Asia PP Raffia grades
fell $45/mt from the previous week to $935/mt. The PP market in China experienced a further
drop as the futures markets plunged below Yuan 7,000/mt at the beginning of the
week. Market sources say that April's
worse-than-expected economic numbers are still having a large impact on the
market. Low prices on the upstream coal and naphtha markets also put additional
drag on the recovery. The PP Raffia China local marker dropped Yuan
175/mt in a week, to Yuan 7,025/mt May 23. This is its lowest level since April
8, 2020 when it closed at Yuan 6.925/mt. One China-based
trader stated that "prices haven't bottomed out yet. It could drop to Yuan
6500/mt...
