- Slow trade continues- The upstream styrene markets
are stuck with negative margins and lack of downstream demand

The US
acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene markets held steady during the week ending
March 15, despite sharply reduced liquidity from upstream styrene. The downstream ABS producers were left in the limbo by the upstream market
for styrene, unable provide sufficient demand levels to keep styrene spot price
below feedstock benzene. The spot price of US butadiene remained near its two-year lows, March 1,
despite low demand. Despite sharp drops in the upstream propylene markets, US spot export
acrylonitrile pricing remained stable over the week to March 14.
