EDC sentiment bearish amid weaker ethylene / VCM boosted by tight supply amid weak PVC Demand

In the absence of price discussions, EDC: Asian diethylene dichloride prices were stable from week to week at $300/mt for Far East Asia. Market sentiment is seen as bearish in line with the falling upstream market for ethylene. CFR Northeast Asia's ethylene price fell $45/mt in the last week, to $860/mt on May 9, a 4-month low. Asian EDC also restricted discussions on spot prices ahead of the announcement of new downstream polyvinyl chloride offers for June. In Northeast Asia, the cost-based value of chlorine was assessed as minus $11.67/mt on May 9 compared to minus 29.43/mt one week earlier.
