Asian EDC/VCM/Chlorine weekly: EDC stable; VCM flat or $15/mt lower / CFR FE Asia VCM hits a 9-month low / Activities restricted ahead of new PVC offer

The price of Asian ethylene di chloride, which is also known as EDC, was stable from week to week at $285/mt for CFR Far East Asia. It was $290/mt for CFR Southeast Asia. Upstream ethylene prices rose. The CFR Northeast Asia ethylene rate rose $20/mt from week to week, reaching $840/mt on October 10. The spot EDC market was said to be limited, in line with a bearish outlook for downstream markets such as vinyl monomer and polyvinylchloride. According to the current EDC and ethylene prices, Asia's vinyl monomer production costs are $618.15/mt less than the current VCM of $580/mt in CFR FE Asia.
