Asian EDC/VCM/Chlorine weekly: EDC stable at $20/mt lower; VCM stable / EDC under pressure amid weak ethylene feedstock / VCM remains steady despite firmer downstream PVC

The Asian ethylene di chloride market was bearish on Sept. 26, causing the EDC price to be stable or even lower by $20/mt. CFR Far East Asia EDC was stable for the week at $285/mt on Sept. 26 while CFR Southeast Asia EDC moved down $20/mt to $290/mt. Asia's EDC markets were bearish due to a drop of $30/mt in the price of ethylene feedstock from $830/mt CFR Northeast Asia. The demand for spot EDC was also restricted due to a negative margin in vinyl chloride monomer downstream production. Asia's VCM cost, calculated using EDC and Ethylene prices, was $615.75/mt on Sept. 26. This is higher than the current VCM pricing of $595/mt for CFR FE Asia.
