Sources said that ethylene dichloride Asian prices were stable this week at $300/mt CFA Far East Asia, and $330/mt CFA Southeast Asia on August 22, despite a lack of market activity. No deals have been heard so far. The market sentiment was unchanged. It tracked downstream vinyl chloride monomer markets and polyvinyl chloride markets, where the outlook for September is unstable. Market participants are waiting to see the initial offers of PVC. Upstream ethylene price rose by $5/mt in the past week, to $880/mt CFR Northeast Asia. Data showed that the cost of producing VCM using EDC and Ethylene was $640.20/mt. This is higher than the current VCM price CFR FE Asia of $610/mt.
