Sources said that Asian ethylene di chloride prices remained unchanged for the week ending August 8 due to a lack of market activity. Both buyers and sellers remained on the sidelines. Prices for ethylene dichloride in Asia were stable at $310/mt CIF Far East Asia, and $340/mt CIF Southeast Asia during the week of August 8. The market sentiment was stable to weaker. This is due to the stable vinyl chloride monomer and polyvinyl chloride markets. Upstream ethylene costs rose by $10/mt in the past week, to $870/mt CFR Northeast Asia. Cost of production of VCM using EDC and Ethylene was $646.10/mt. This is lower than the current VCM price in Far East Asia of $665/mt.
