Propylene prices continued to fall on May
9, as the weak downstream PP price weighed down demand. The July ICE Brent crude
futures contract at 4:30 pm Singapore time was down $0.38/b compared to the
previous Asian closing price of $76.04/b. The
demand for propylene was further affected by a softer crude. A Chinese propylene purchaser said that the Chinese economy
was in a bad state. He noted that low consumption had affected all petrochemicals
produced in China. Eastern China propylene
was priced at Yuan 6,700/mt, a Yuan 170/mt decrease. This comes out to $848-868/mt
