East China port spot inventories fall to 41,000 mt / SM June futures up Yuan 266/mt on day

Market sources report that the Asian styrene markets rose on May 20, amid expectations for Chinese stimulus and support of the property sector. The styrene Monomer CFR China and FOB Korean markers for May 20 were $1,178/mt & $1,138/mt respectively. Both marks are up $34/mt since the previous assessment. It could be because of the macroeconomy's support, the expectation of lower inventory levels and the high cost raw materials. A market source stated that these factors have led to an increase in prices. On the supply side, SM was said to be tight in China.
