Downstream markets are weak-
FOB Korea- East China price difference narrows

On
April 20, the Asian benzene markets were under some pressure due to weak
demand. The FOB Korea physical benzene marker dropped $15/mt per day, to
$972.33/mt on April 20. This is the lowest since $970.67/mt on April
11. Sources said that the majority of downstream benzene-derivative
markets were weak and hampered end users' desire to purchase benzene. The
price differential between the FOB Korean benzene and the East China
domestically produced benzene has narrowed down to a negative $41.68-45.90/mt. On
March 14, there was a price difference of minus 14 cents/mt. The styrene
marker, CFR China, fell to $1080-1120/mt on April 20. This is $100-120/mt below
benzene.
