Spot export prices for US copolymer and
homopolymer polypropylene continued to fall during the week ending May 31.
Domestic contract levels fell as well week-on-week amid a monthly price
settlement on polymer grade propylene. On May 30, a 40-cents/lb offer was made for PP homopolymer,
but it was deemed unworkable due to the current market supply and minimal
demand. The rail car value ranged from
36-37 cents/lb ($915-937/mt FAS Houston). One
source stated that even at this price, there was minimal interest in buying
resin of Asian origin, which is priced competitively. The source stated that it would be difficult to make this
price work. A price of 38 cents/lb (or
$959/mt FAS Houston) was mentioned for copolymer-PP...
