Asian toluene prices rose on March 27 due
to tight supplies and muted spot trading discussions. A trader stated that he was also confused
by the MX-TL spread. In India, trade activity was low as ex-tank
discussions levels fell back to Rupees 81/kg. This is despite huge gains
in spite of a healthy port inventory. CFR India
sold indications for H2 April loading cargo at a premium $115-130/mt above the
April FOB Korea marker average. As traders
remained cautious, buying interest was low. "Toluene
does not gain momentum. It's not hard to understand why. It's just
not clear why. FOB Korea isomer mx to toluene was $69/mt
February 27, from $33/mt March 25, 2020. C+F Japan naphtha, the
benchmark Asian C+F Japan naphtha,
increased 25 cents/mt to $649.25-671.50/mt on March 24.
