Fundamentals were the same across the
European acrylonitrile markets in the week leading up to May 2. Consumers
continued to place a high priority on contractual commitments, despite the
limited interest from derivatives for spot material. The market length was
similar to trends in 2023. Limited enquiries for spot materials were
exacerbated by the wide price gap between buyer and seller expectations. Throughout the week, seller pricing expectations reached as
high as $1,700-1,780/mt, which was far above buyer offers. Producers noted that the competitive pricing in the Turkish
and Russian markets was also driving down pricing expectations in North West
Europe. Due to the difference between
buyer and sellers' expectations of pricing and the muted spot market activity,
the spot price remained at $1,480-1,520/mt...
