The Asian caprolactam market was quiet in the week leading up to May 2, as China was closed for the majority of the week because of Labor Day holidays. A buyer said that demand was lower than expected compared to the previous forecasts. The buyer said that prices were rangebound, as there were not many bullish or negative signals on the market. "Discussions range between $1,650 and $1700/mt. Around $1,700/mt is what sellers are willing to sell. "I doubt that any seller will be willing to sell for $1,650/mt, or less." A producer said that cargoes of Russian origin are expected to resume flowing into Asia.
