Monoethylene glycol supplies in the US
remained high during the week ended May 19. Sources are awaiting the peak
summer demand. Sources said that normally, MEG
consumption for polyethylene terephthalate (PET) ramps up around mid-March.
However, with less than two week before the start of June, sources reported a
demand well below average. US PET demand has improved since [the
first quarter], but is still below what it should be, according to a US MEG
supplier. The price of June loading was unchanged at 19-20
cents/lb, FOB US Gulf. This would suggest that the demand is not
