The
European mixed xylene spot premiums dropped $10.25/mt in a week, to $159.75/mt.
This is despite an increase in trading earlier in the week. Early in the
week there was a flurry trades, with MX trading between $165/mt to $170/mt by
midweek. The market activity slowed down after a holiday on May 18
resulting in the drop of premiums. As the summer approaches, it is
expected that demand for MX will increase. A producer stated that the
demand is expected to continue increasing. The Spot paraxylene price fell
because of weak feedstock costs and a lackluster trading environment in Asia. A
