Sources said May 21 that the outage at Tarragona did not affect production and demand for styrene. Repsol's Tarragona experienced an unplanned shutdown at one of their unspecified plants. A source stated that "nothing appears to be affected". The Tarragona plant has a nominal production capacity of 460,000mt/year styrene and 200,000mt/year propylene. A source stated that "we see less demand this month for styrene, as well as in the Eastern Mediterranean region for petrochemicals generally." On the European benzene & styrene market, no deals were reported to have been concluded on that day.
