Prices of Asian paraxylene were lower on
the day due to a decline in purified terephthalic acids futures on weak
downstream demand. Asian
paraxylene was down $18/mt for the day to $1,022/mt. PTA futures fell on China's Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange,
May 9. At 3 pm Singapore time (0700 GMT),
September 2023 futures were closed at Yuan 5 426/mt, compared to Yuan 5 468/mt
on the previous day. A trader from North
Asia commented on the decline in PTA futures by saying "[There's] bad
