The strength of upstream crude oil
supported a rise in Asian styrene monomer price increases. As of 0830 GMT Asian closing, the front-month
ICE Brent futures contract increased $5.52/b and was now $84.21/b. A trader
said that although the price rises in crude oil have pushed up downstream
petrochemicals markets this wave, it may not be sustainable for those products
with low demand. It's hard to predict the future, but it will
become clearer when the market has more information about crude oil prices. The trader
added that "Downstream sentiment-driven desire has picked up, however
physical demand remains poor." The domestic
China market for styrene monomer rose sharply by Yuan145/mt to Yuan 8.715/mt
