Crude oil drops $1.07/b and naphtha $9/mt / Chinese benzene inventory drops

As upstream markets declined, Asian benzene fell to $1 042.67/mt at the close of Asian trading on May 13. The front-month ICE Brent futures dropped $1.07/b compared to the previous session, reaching $83/b by the Asian close on May 13. The naphtha C+F Japan mark fell $9/mt for the day and closed at $667.125/mt. The styrene CFR China mark was down $7/mt from the previous day to $1,138/mt in downstream markets. On the FOB physical market in Korea, a deal for a first-half June loading cargo of 3,000 mt was reached at $1,041/mt. During the Market on Close process, discussions on flat prices were heard for laycans for H1 and H2 June as well as July, while floating price discussions were heard mainly for cargoes loading in July.
