MTBE in Asia fell $46.51/mt from one day to
the next, reaching $878/mt at FOB Singapore on May 3. This was due to steep
drops in upstream markets. In
Asian trading, the July ICE Brent crude futures contract dropped $4.97/mt or
6.29% day on day, to $74.05/b by 0830 GMT. Trafigura, in the FOB Singapore market for MTBE, offered a
cargo to be loaded over the period May 30-June 3, at $878-898/mt, which was the
price at which the cargo was traded by Aramco Trading Singapore. Due to Labor Day, the Chinese domestic market was closed.
