The price of Asian benzene rose on May 18
due to a fire at Valero Corpus Christi's 290,000-b/b refinery. This was backed
by higher upstream crude. As
of the close at 0830 GMT, the front-month ICE Brent contract had risen $2.25/b
in one day to $76.71/b. In the morning,
swaps were of greater interest. The June contract was most popular. During the MOC session, however, the activity was muted. No
indications were heard regarding the second half June laycan FOB Korea. At 4:29 pm Singapore Time, a deal was said to have been done
for any July loading at $869/mt. On May
