The Styrene Monomer market rose $9.50/mt
for the day of May 18, as crude oil and benzene markets gained strength. As of the Asian close at
0830 GMT, the front-month ICE Brent contract was up $2.25/b. Meanwhile, benzene
FOB Korea was $25-30/mt higher on the same day. The benzene CFR China mark was $4/mt more expensive at
$865/mt on May 18. Meanwhile, the styrene CFR China mark was $9.50/mt more
expensive at $993/mt. This puts the benzene/styrene margin at $128/mt. On May 12, the spread reached its highest level in recent
two-months at $145-160/mt. One buyer in
