Crude oil falls $1.22/b, naphtha loses $9.75/mt / June vessel fixtures for Northeast Asia-US Gulf coast trade lane drop: trader

The Asian benzene price fell by $3/mt to $1,056/mt in the May 21 trading session, following the weakness of the upstream market. As of the Asian closing, the front-month July ICE Brent contracts fell $1.22/b during the trading session to $82.94/b. The naphtha Japan C+F marker fell $9.75/mt in one day to $676/mt. The demand for aromatic cargoes to be used as blendstocks has reportedly waned as traders anticipate fewer cargoes from Northeast Asia moving into the US Gulf Coast. There are not many [chemical vessels] from Northeast Asia to the US Gulf Coast for June. A trader stated that refinery turnarounds took place in the US earlier this year and caused aromatics cargoes move earlier.
