The Asian styrene markets closed lower on
June 15, as the prices of upstream oil markets fell. As of 0830 GMT, the front-month ICE Brent
futures contract dropped $1.41/b. The contract rose $2.63/b in the
previous session. Styrene monomer CFR China was $15/mt more expensive. The demand
for spot cargoes in India remained low as buying and selling opinions are still
far apart. A distributor stated that "everyone is
bidding [CFR China] less $10-$20/mt but exporters want [CFR China] at flat." Prices for
domestic ex-Kandla were around Rupees 84/kg. This is a drop of Rupees 4/kg
compared to last week, when they were Rupees 88/kg. A fixed
price of $890/mt was also heard for 500-1,000 mt CFR India...
