Crude Oil Futures Rise $1.24/mt in a Single Day / Discussions increase after four days of decline

On June 6, the CFR China and FOB Korean markers for styrene monomer were $1,157/mt each, up by $6/mt since the previous assessment. After four days of declining discussions, it was reported that Asian SM on Chinese domestic markets had increased. This followed the rise in prices for upstream products such as benzene or crude oil. A market source stated that "SM appears to have recovered a little, but the market is not supported as a group." One buyer in China said that "there is no discussion on the export markets." The price of crude oil futures was higher at midafternoon Asian trading on June 6, as investors took advantage of the recent drop in prices that had seen crude markets approaching oversold levels.
