The Asian paraxylene price was marginally higher than the previous day, April 19, though demand indicators in Asia are still largely suppressed. On April 19, Asian PX was up $1/mt for the day, at $1057.33/mt FRU Unv1/China. The PX price rose slightly in tandem with the modest increase in crude oil prices overnight, due to ongoing tensions in Middle East. The price of June ICE Brent crude rose to $87.23/b at the close of the Asian market on April 19, up from $86.97/b. Market participants continue to question, however, the impact gasoline blending demands have on spot PX prices.
