Counterparties to the process confirmed that on May 31st, the June European industry-settled benzene contract price was settled at $1.246/mt / Eur1,152/mt, up $49/mt / Eur35/mt respectively from April. Two buyers and two sellers confirmed that their contracts had been fully settled at this level. Two buyers and two vendors must confirm that a contract has been fully settled. A source stated that "the sentiment is weak following the window and there is now no industry buyer." The source also said that US values have been weak. On May 31, benzene was priced at $1,169/mt CIF-ARA for deliveries five to 30 days in advance. This is down $25.75/mt compared to May 30. The European styrene markets have not changed fundamentally.
