- Chinese suppliers are keen to export: Sources- Downstream SBR prices rise

In spite of thin trade, Asian butadiene
prices remain stable on February 27th. Both sellers and buyers had taken a wait-and see
approach. As downstream production margins narrowed due to
the Asian butadiene spike, buyers remained on the sidelines. Due to
lower steam cracker operations across Asia, spot supplies were also restricted. According
to market sources, Asian steam crackers will continue to reduce operations
because olefins margins (especially ethylene) remain negative. According
to market sources, Chinese suppliers are keen to export because the Chinese
market is currently more expensive than the local China market. Asian
styrene-butadiene-rubber prices rose $30-$50/mt on the week Feb. 24,
underpinned by tight supply and higher feedstock costs.
