Asian methanol prices fell on May 5, due to
a combination of weak demand and a long supply. CFR China methanol
was down $9/mt from day to day and $11/mt for the week, at $274/mt. CFR Southeast methanol was assessed at $343/mt on May 5,
$7/mt less than the previous day, and $7/mt less on the previous week. A 5,000-mt bid of $304/mt was reported for a June
arrival cargo. Market on Close
assessment process did not produce any offers. Some buyers reported that the selling interest for mts was
$310-315 CFR India. A couple of importers stated that they expected more
than 1,000 mt to be imported from Iran into India in May, and that prices
