March 13 saw the Asian propylene market
remain stable, as buyers continued to be cautious about spot purchases. According to a propylene producer, propylene
producers in Asia are still struggling with weak PP margins. The Asian
polypropylene-propylene spread was zero, well below the typical breakeven
spread of $150-170/mt. According to plant news, LCY Chemical Corp,
Unv1's polypropylene-propylene production line at Kaohsiung's Kaohsiung plant
will be running at 80% in April. This is despite weak margins. According
to a company source, LCY Chemical imports propylene feedstock and also
purchases on a term basis from Kaohsiung's local steam cracker. Two
