China's oil demand has plateaued / the rapid growth of China's oil fuels appears to have ended

In 2024, as the Chinese economy and transport sector undergo major transformations, the demand for oil-based fuels such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel will decline marginally. China's combined fuel consumption was almost 8.1 millions barrels per day, which is 2.5% less than in 2021 and barely above the levels of 2019. The data suggest that China's combustion of petroleum fuel has already reached a plateau, and the future potential growth is very limited. This is because the Chinese economy is shifting from manufacturing-based growth to services-based.
