In
the week ending March 23, the 2-ethylhexanol CFR China marker saw gains. Due to
impending major plant shutdowns in China, Yuan 9,600/mt was paid in Shandong
and Yuan 9,900/mt for east China. Both prices were up Yuan 200-250/mt. The import-parity basis showed that the price
was around $1,171-$1,208/mt CFR. No.3 saw a 450,000 mt/year output, while No.2
saw a capacity of 200,000 mt/year. The plant will run low until the
market improves," a company source said. The plant
will be idle until the market improves," a company source stated. Propylene, a
feedstock for 2-EH was valued at $15/mt by the Chinese government on March
23rd at $1,210/mt.
