In the week ending April 12, Asian
polypropylene prices were mixed as they dropped on China's domestic market
but grew in South Asia. In China domestic prices fell as downstream
stocking subsided. Some sources claim that converter
inventories are higher than previous years. This is due to poor
end-consumer buying, leaving the oversupply situation unabated. "Buying
is good overall, but downstream orders are not performing as well as last week,"
one China-based trader said. The Yuan 7,575/mt for PP Raffia grade on April 12
was Yuan 100/mt. High interest rates locally and the lack of
consumption-driving policies are causing expectations to fall," one
