Sources claim that the Asian methanol
markets saw a drop in prices on June 19, due to a weak market and weak
sentiment. CFR China was down $1/mt from the
previous day to $234/mt in accordance with weaker Chinese domestic prices. East
China's domestic price fell Yuan 10/mt in one day to Yuan 2 058/mt, while
discussions heard were Yuan 2,055-2 060/mt. CFR
Southeast Asian was down $4.75/mt from the previous day to $299/mt. The
fundamentals for Southeast Asia are also a bit bearish, with ample supply of
term cargoes and weak demand downstream. Sources
said that end-users have been heard to increase the minimum volume of their
