CFR China prices drop $5/mt / Indian producers offer discounts on inventory

In the week ending May 15, the Asian polypropylene markets were stable or lower due to a balanced supply in China, and to competitive offers in Southeast Asia. CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia PP raffia/injection price both down $5/mt & $15/mt respectively on the week at $910/mt & $965/mt, May 15. Sources on the market reported that imports to China were becoming scarcer due to self-sufficiency in the market, after recent capacity expansion. A Chinese trader stated that "PP homopolymer imported cargo will only be purchased if the price of the product is reasonable. However, the freight rates are high at the moment." China's domestic PP raffia prices ex-works were reduced by Yuan 10/mt to Yuan 7,570/mt, as PP plants ramped up their capacities gradually following turnarounds. Market fundamentals...
