In the week ended Sept. 13, Asian monoethylene markets were quiet, as buyers remained cautious due to crude oil volatility. The prices rebounded in the late week despite the early-week drops that followed crude oil futures. The November ICE Brent futures were up $0.53/b for the week and closed at $72.49/b on Sept. 13th. Sources said that downstream support was limited as the recovery of demand in the polyester downstream sector was slower than anticipated despite September being an average peak month for textile production. According to a producer, the operating rates of polyester plants in China rose 1% from the previous week to 88%. "The demand is slightly improving and prices are stable.
