The price of Asian pure terephthalic acids was down slightly week over week on Jan. 31 due to lower upstream paraxylene and a slow market during the Lunar New Year holiday. PTA FOB china was $651/mt, down $1/mt from the previous day. The average weekly price was down $12.53/mt at $652.67/mt. Some sources predict that the lack of trading activity caused by the Lunar New Year celebrations will continue into early next week.
