Asian Caprolactam prices fall amid low demand / Price discussions move lower / Freight limits downstream sales

In the week ending on July 11, Asian caprolactam was assessed at $15/mt less due to weaker discussions. Benzene prices upstream rose by $7.33/mt in the past week, to $1,020.67/mt F.O.B. Korea. Ammonia was priced at $450/mt Fareast Asia in July 2010. Sources indicate that the price discussion has shifted lower on the spot market due to a lackluster demand. The price discussions heard this week were lower than the previous one. This week, traders reported a range of tradable indications from $1,600/mt to %1,660/mt. Stable feedstock costs failed to support caprolactam pricing due to a weaker downstream market. A producer in Northeast Asia said that buyers are buying conservatively.
