- Feedstock prices continue to drop on a weekly basis- Participants prefer "wait and see"

On April 27, Asian caprolactam was down
$20/mt from the previous week to $1,650/mt FAR East Asia. The Asian caprolactam
industry was quiet due to the uncertain nylon demand despite low feedstock
prices. A trade signal was heard at
1,650/mt. A buying signal was heard at 1,620-1,660/mt. Others preferred to keep
prices at the previous week's $1,670-1,710/mt level. Both benzene and ammonia experienced price corrections. FOB Korea, benzene dropped below $950/mt, a drop of over
$30/mt in a week. Ammonia also appeared to be weaker, according to a source. Some market participants, however, held on to their
discussions for the month of May, citing mixed outlooks for demand for caprolactam,
and nylon.
