Turkey's polystyrene markets remained stable during the week ending August 14 due to low interest in purchasing after price increases in August. CFR Turkey expanded polystyrene at $1,695/mt is up $5 from the previous week. Turkey's trading activity was dull due to the lack of demand for products from buyers. The unfavorable economy in Turkey continued to hamper trade. Many participants preferred to use cash to trade rather than take risky positions. Savings accounts offered interest rates above 50%. A Turkish trader stated that the market was sluggish because of low demand. In August, the styrene market upstream saw a strong increase in prices. This led to higher offer price for buyers.
