Asian 2-ethyl-hexanol fell by as much as 60/mt in the week ending Jan. 16 due to lower price inquiries from buyers. A producer reported that 2-EH producers are experiencing lower-priced inquiries primarily from India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. According to sources, the prices of 2-EH in dollar terms were lower, and inquiries came in at $900-$940/mt. On Jan. 16 CFR China was down $60/mt from the previous week to $1,020/mt, while CFR Southeast Asia fell $40/mt, to $1,060/mt. Northeast Asian producers, however, said that stock levels were low and availability was limited. Restocking activities ahead of the Lunar New Year and planned maintenance by a Chinese manufacturer in February supported Chinese domestic pricing, according to another producer.
