Third consecutive rise in crude oil prices boosts sentiment / Downstream demand remains unchanged

May 30, 2024

The price of monoethylene glycol in Asia increased on May 29, boosted by higher crude oil. The MEG market was boosted by the third day in a row of gains in crude oil prices. Sources said that the Chinese domestic futures markets also experienced an increase, but there were few physical cargo trades as downstream demand was unchanged. Import offers were low on this day but bids rose slightly on the strength of domestic trade. As of the Asian close on May 29, the July ICE Brent futures had increased $1.48/b from the previous day to $84.87/b.
