Spot styrene prices decrease $98/mt / Benzene prices drop on lower offers

The price of styrene in Europe decreased on April 22, following the restart of the Po11 unit at the Lyondell and Covestro jointly owned Maasvlakte facility. On April 22, styrene loading for five-to-30-days ahead was $1,531/mt at FOB ARA. This is down $98/mt compared to April 19. LyondellBasell announced April 19 that the joint-owned propylene monomer and styrene oxide plant in Maasvlakte, Netherlands, owned by LyondellBasell and Covestro has resumed operation. Sources had stated April 2 that the plant's operations were halted March 27 because of an outage. In response to the closure of the plant, styrene prices increased earlier in April.
