US MMA - Spot prices stable as freight discourages imports amid weak domestic demand / High freight costs deter imports / Offers heard steady at $3,000/mt CFR

The spot price for US methylmethacrylate was stable on the 31st of July, despite market feedback that demand has been consistently low despite a tight supply and high shipping costs deterring imports. One trader said that MMA spot prices were flat at $3,000/mt of CFR USG. He added that tradable offers had been heard at a price and volume above this level. Another trader confirmed that an ex-Asia contract was heard at $3,200/mt of CFR USG. He said spot levels may have been even higher, with freight. Both sources said that the higher prices were not indicative of the market value and that the buyer would have needed immediate material. A market source said that "$3,000/mt may be high."
