The spot export price of acrylonitrile in
the US was stable in the week ending May 23. This is in line with the stability
in downstream ABS. Market participants cited mixed fundamentals for the demand. On May 22, a sale of a
parcel larger than 4,000 mt at $1,365/mt on a FOB basis was reported. ACN prices will be slowly dropping after months of trading
at variable costs, according to a source. Since
May 2, export prices have been $1,440-1,480/mt F.O.B. USGC. In early March, feedstock propylene prices spiked to a high
of 70.75 cents/lb. This was due to multiple propane dehydrogenation units going
down in Q1. By early May, they had fallen below 35 cents/lb. Spot polymer grade
propylene fell 0.75...
