Prices rise across the aromatics chain / TDP margins increase

Asian toluene was up $3/mt on May 27 from the previous day at $887/mt, following a rise of $14/mt in benzene to $1,071.33/mt, FOB Korea, during the same period. A producer stated that mixed isomer-grade xylenes rose by $7/mt to $955.50/mt, and therefore, the disproportionation margins of toluene were also increasing. The producer said that the US blending market is still slow but paraxylene, benzene and other components look good, which means all TDP units will be running more. On May 27, the FOB Korea benzene to FOB Korea Toluene Spread was $184.33/mt. This was the highest spread since June 7, 2020, when it reached $242.17/mt.
