Benzene prices for May and June remain unchanged due to limited liquidity / Crude Oil Futures Close Higher on Day

The Benzene Spot Market was quiet on May 9 with no reports of new business. New bids and offer were also slow. As a result, spot market levels at 398 cents/gal USG DDP were deemed stable. The forward month June level was also unchanged at 396 cents/gal. The June offers were 404 cents/gal DDP. This is a slight increase from the last reported offer of 402 cents/gal DDP. The FOB-to-DDP premium remained unchanged at 5 cents. The market structure remained unchanged, with prices in May and June at a 2-cent price backwardation. Backwardation was also 2 cents between June and the third quarter of 2024. The downstream styrene market failed to gain momentum, as no new trades were reported on May 9.
