Producers increase offers on domestic Chinese prices / Taiwan's Formosa Plastics restarts ACN in Mailiao

On Jan. 21, Asian acrylonitrile price rose from $1,300/mt to $1,300/mt for Far East Asia, and $1,300/mt for Southeast Asia, as market conditions remained tight despite soaring domestic Chinese prices. According to multiple sources, disruptions to the supply chain in China caused by unplanned shutdowns or delayed restarts have led to tightening of the market. This has resulted in soaring prices on the domestic market. On Jan. 21, it was reported that domestic Chinese prices had risen week-over-week to Yuan 11,000/mt. A producer also said that delays in the start-up of a new facility in China has raised concerns over a shortage in supply, which is pushing prices upward.
