Turkish Polystyrene and African Polystyrene Prices Drop on Thin Demand / EPS spot prices fall $60/mt / Monomer costs fell in July

The Turkish Polystyrene Market fell on July 3, amid weak demand and declining upstream monomer price. CFR Turkey Expandable Polystyrene Spot Price at $1,620/mt is down $60/mt in the last week and $140/mt compared to a month earlier. As downward pressure continued in Turkey, producers announced price reductions for GPPS grades and HIPS grades. Sources said that demand was low in key segments such as packaging due to high interest rates and inflation. The declines in July were also partly a reflection of the drop in the European Styrene Contract Price for July, which was Eur138/mt per month. The spread between EPS and GPPS has narrowed.
